On August 13th, Laduma Hardware marked a day of celebration and community upliftment by handing over two newly built houses to destitute families in Hluvukani and Acornhoek. The 13th of August 2024 was aptly dubbed “the Day of Double-Double” across the Laduma Hardware Group of stores—a phrase that perfectly captured the essence of the events and was communicated across all social media platforms. On this day, two destitute families were uplifted through the provision of proper housing. The phrase encapsulated the significance of the occasion, marking a double celebration of giving and community upliftment that was widely shared and celebrated. This initiative highlights the company’s strong commitment to giving back to the communities it serves.
In Acornhoek, Buffelshoek, the afternoon was particularly significant as the community gathered to celebrate a remarkable milestone. Mr. William Mkansi, who had lived for years in a dilapidated house, was honored with a newly constructed home. Thanks to Laduma Hardware Acornhoek’s efforts, Mr. Mkansi’s dignity was restored by fulfilling the basic human need for shelter.
The handover event was attended by a large and joyful crowd, including local dignitaries such as Pastor E. Malebe, Bishop Calvin Monareng from the Moletela Traditional Council, and Councillor P. Sambo. The atmosphere was filled with song, dance, and various activities, reflecting the community’s happiness in witnessing the upliftment of one of their own, made possible by Laduma Hardware Acornhoek.
Councillor P. Sambo expressed deep gratitude for the positive impact Laduma Hardware is making in local communities. “This year alone, already the Bushbuckridge Municipality has benefited from the donation of three houses in Acornhoek, Hluvukani, and Mkhuhlu. This kind gesture by the Laduma Hardware Group has not gone unnoticed,” he said. He praised the company’s effective strategy of giving back to the communities that it serves and expressed hope for its continued growth to help even more people. Bishop Monareng also praised Laduma Hardware’s efforts, acknowledging their role in giving a voice to the voiceless, restoring dignity to the previously disadvantaged by providing proper homes to at least 6 families in 2024.
As the sun set, the community’s enthusiasm remained undeterred, with ongoing celebrations of song, ululations, and dance. The event culminated with Mr. Mkansi gratefully receiving the keys to his new home from Region 2 Area Manager, Mr. Imtiaz Patel, symbolizing his transition from a shack to a beautiful house.
Laduma Hardware Acornhoek’s generous gesture serves as a shining example of ubuntu, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of the people of Buffelshoek in Acornhoek and beyond.
