On August 6, 2024, Builden Hardware, a subsidiary of Laduma Hardware, made a significant contribution to the Mazibuko family in Nkohlakalo by providing them with two newly built rooms and refurbishing their old building structures. This heartfelt gesture was marked by a joyous handover ceremony attended by numerous dignitaries and community members.
This support comes as a huge relief to the 15-member family, ensuring they are now comfortably accommodated within their home. The provision of additional housing units has sustainably improved the lives of the Mazibuko family, which includes sisters with their children, nieces of a deceased brother and cousins.
Among the attendees were Traditional Elder Mr. Lekhuleni, Ward 31 Councillor Mrs. Esther Mohlala, Spiritual Leader of the Muslim Faith Siraji Azizi, Pastor Mazibuko, representatives from the South African Police Services, Sergeant Molimi and Constable Masina, and the members from the Nkohlakalo community.
Speakers at the event applauded Builden Hardware for leading by example in the community through its corporate social investment initiatives. The common thread shared with the main brand, Laduma Hardware, is that once Builden Hardware promises its customers, it delivers on that promise.
With great excitement, Store Manager Mr. Simpiwe Mahloana expressed his appreciation for the support that the community of Kabokweni and its surroundings gives to Builden Hardware. “Although we are a smaller store, with our boldness emphasized with our corporate identity of black and red with a tint of white, we are able to aggressively market to our community and make a difference in small but meaningful ways such as building the two housing units, extending the home of the Mazibuko family,” he added.
The culmination of the ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by the handover of keys by Area Manager Mr. Imtiaz Patel, was well received by Ms. Aidah Ngwenyama. She thanked Siraj Sithole and Builden Hardware for coming to her rescue, firstly by identifying her family as in need of support and then ensuring that proper housing was provided to accommodate all family members of the Mazibuko family comfortably.
The event highlighted the spirit of community and generosity, with Builden Hardware’s initiative significantly improving the living conditions of the Mazibuko family. The event ended on a high note as the community joined in wishing the Mazibuko family well, celebrating with dance and laughter. Some community members also won promotional gifts from Builden Hardware by participating in mini-competitions held to spice up the event proceedings.
Other businesses are urged to follow Builden Hardware’s example by contributing towards socio-economic development initiatives for a “Better Life for All,” concluded one of the key guest speakers and a leader in the Kabokweni community, Mr. Nyalungu.
