𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐤𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐢 𝐌𝐞𝐠𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐈𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐊𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐚 (𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐢) 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞

It all started with a Painting Skills Training Project that took place on 𝟏𝟏 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟏𝟐 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, where 𝟏𝟓 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 between the ages of 18 and 40 from various communities around 𝐢𝐍𝐬𝐢𝐤𝐚𝐳𝐢 gathered at 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐤𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐢 𝐌𝐞𝐠𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞 to participate in a 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 proudly co-sponsored by 𝐎’𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐲’𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭.

The initiative came at an important time when practical skills development is essential in addressing South Africa’s high unemployment rate. It also took place during a significant period as the world celebrated 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 on 8 March 2026, with the Government of South Africa commemorating the occasion under the theme: “𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐚𝐢𝐧.”

The theoretical component of the training was conducted at the store, while the practical training sessions took place at 𝐊𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐚 (𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐢) 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞. Following the successful completion of the training programme, there was still a commitment to return and complete the painting project that had been started during the practical sessions.

True to its word, 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐤𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐢 𝐌𝐞𝐠𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞 organised painters to finalise the work, while the paint was generously sponsored by 𝐎’𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐲’𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭. The community centre has now been fully painted, with only the artistic drawings and finishing touches remaining.
